World Surprised as Activision Tease New Call of Duty with Screens – News

News just in! Activision to release another Call of Duty game!

Who would have thought it? After years of successful titles, and the franchise practically printing money, Activision will be releasing a new Call of Duty title in 2014. The title was teased for a fleeting moment at last month’s Game Developer’s Conference.

Taken from Polygon.com, who in turn took it from IGN. And that is it. The only screen available. No seriously, this is it.

We can confirm that the game will involve modern or near-future soldiers. These soldiers will have noses and eyes. We also speculate that the game will involve a lot of combat and at least one playable character will die while we watch from a first person perspective. You heard it here first, folks!

This year’s CoD is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, a studio founded by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey. The pair previously worked for Visceral Games and worked on the popular Dead Space franchise. However, this isn’t Sledgehammer Games’ first work on the CoD series. The studio previously co-developed Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward.

This year’s iteration marks the first in Activision’s new three year development cycle for Call of Duty games. Does this mean we will have the occasional break from the hype train, stagnant gameplay and bro-culture? Of course not. The titles will still be released annually, but with three studios taking it in turns to make them; alternating between Sledgehammer, Treyarch and fan favourites Infinity Ward.

The latest title is supposedly taking a next-gen focused approach during development, with emphasis being placed upon modern PC architecture and the power of the PS4 and Xbone.

But don’t worry, Activision is unlikely to pass on the opportunity to make silly amounts of money; it would be safe to assume we will see versions on ‘last gen’ consoles this year. It remains to be seen how much ‘weaker’ or ‘incomplete’ these versions will be.

Are you excited for the new Call of Duty? Or are you literally sick to death of the titles? Sound off in the comments section below.
