Robin Williams to be Immortalized in World of Warcraft

Robin Williams to be Immortalized in World of Warcraft

After the saddening news that actor and comedian Robin Williams has died this week, players of World of Warcraft have come together to petition for him to be immortalized as an NPC within the game.

This comes after a change.org petition written by Jacob Holgate states Williams was “a game enthusiast” as well as “an avid World of Warcraft player”, mentioning the game in several interviews Williams gave. An extract of the petition reads:

“We the players of World of Warcraft are asking Blizzard to kindly create an NPC within the game that memorializes the actor/comedian. Many have expressed a wish to [sic] this character perform some of Williams’ best jokes within the Worlds End Tavern, so that he may continue making us smile long after his passing.” – Jacob Holgate.

And this request seems to have been granted – when tweeted about the petition Chadd Nervigg, Technical Game Designer, said “Yes. We’re taking care of it.” It seems with nearly 11 thousand signatures in hours, the petition has helped ensure that even beyond his passing, Robin Williams continues to make us smile.

Our thoughts here at Voletic go out to Williams’ family at this time.
