Nintendo Switch Price Leaked

Nintendo Switch Price Leaked

The upcoming Nintendo Switch, stated for a release around March of 2017, has had its price leaked by Toy’s R Us in Canada.

The price has been stated at 329 Canadian dollars, which translates to about 249 euros, and about the same in pounds. Because UK game consoles tend to be more expensive due to various import duties and pricing strategies, we can expect the price to be somewhere between 250 and 300 pounds at launch.

This would be a fairly good price. As the console will be brand new and shiny, and a combination of a handheld and console, the launch premium is not too bad. Considering that the basic PS4 is currently selling for about £240 and it’s possible to get an Xbox One for as low as £180, it might actually be too expensive in many parents eyes. Nintendo has always appealed to parents to buy their console for their kids by being cheaper and kid friendly, and the Switch does not seem to be pursuing that strategy. Exactly what demographic it is going after however, remains to be seen.
