Valve game names swapped on Steam, Dota 2 Dissapeared completely
On what can only be described as a major screw-up, many of the Valve produced titles on Steam have had their names switched. This has led to Steam believing the new title to be the correct game, making the original data unaccessable, and games such as Dota 2 completely unplayable, due to it believing the game is Left 4 Dead 2 and downloading that instead.
Many distressed users have flocked to Reddit with their concerns, with one user “EatMyBanana” posting – “Dota2 became Left 4 Dead 2 , Left 4 Dead 2 became Team Fortress, Team Fortress became Portal, Portal became Counter Strike: Source, wtf [EDIT]Counter Strike: Source became Half – Life 2”
This has been confirmed by my own experience, with many of my Half Life 2 episodes all becoming Portal, this is despite the store page still having the original title and still believing the game is installed.
More updates to come as the story continues and an official word from Valve is released.
