About Voletic
Welcome to Voletic, a website I have been running for over ten years. I first started to write about video games when I was in secondary school, and ran a small blog with a couple of friends. Over the years, it grew, but as we parted ways we eventually abandoned it.
I wanted to keep writing about video games - ultimately, it is my greatest passion in life. I started Voletic at University with a couple of friends, and have kept writing for it since.
It’s gone through a lot of forms. Originally, it was a custom built website - then it was a WordPress - and now finally, it’s landed on Substack. The goal of the site has changed a lot. Back on those days, we wanted to cover a lot of news and different subjects, and whilst it was a lot of fun, it didn’t really work out.
A lot of the content from those days is now gone, and I had considered giving up on the site many times. But I simply love writing about video games. So, I kept it going here and there - but it was difficult getting any kind of feedback or building any kind of community with the way the site was built.
So, over to Substack. It really has become an incredible platform - and one I think I will greatly enjoy writing on. Being able to engage with subscribers, and having them engage with the content more directly - is such a thrilling prospect.
What is our goal?
I want Voletic to continue to be the kind of site that it has always been - completely independent and unbridled. Here I’ll give my raw opinions about the world of video games - but don’t let that deceive you.
Giving raw opinions is often a way for people to disguise that they really just want to be a bit nasty. That’s not my style. This is a nice place - where we can share and discuss gaming openly - and respect both the people that create them, and the audience that enjoys them. It’s an open opinion space - it just happens that I generally have quite nice opinions.
